Welcome to Community Pool!
Come on in, the water’s fine
We are Elva Bennett and Kelly Bjork, two friends who start our weeks with water aerobics at the community pool, followed by breakfast at Kelly’s where Kelly provides the groceries and Elva cooks. Sprinkled throughout are our weekly updates, jokes, advice, anxieties, fears, encouragements, gossip, and art.
We are queer and trans artists living in Seattle in 2025 - its feels like everything is changing. As we look out at a hard year ahead, we already want to remember the sweet moments in our lives that will happen anyway, to savor our lives which will (hopefully) continue through the good and the bad.
Like the breakfast at the top of our week, our comic is collaborative. Elva writes and thumbnails the comics and Kelly illustrates them. The drafts, finished pieces, and accompanying thrill of doing an art project with a friend sweeten our weeks. Follow along and let us know if they do the same for you.
